At Friars Glen, we have a range of fantastic walks right from our doorstep in the KILLARNEY NATIONAL PARK. We can provide you with maps, directions and information regarding the degree of difficulty and length of the various walks.
All the nature trails are easily accessible from Friars Glen and suit all abilities. They have romantic and historical names:
• Monks Wood / Lovers' Walk / Friars Walk / Muckross Abbey
• Cloghereen Pool Wood (100m from Friars Glen)
• Arthur Vincent Nature Trail
• Mossy Woods Walk
• Dinis / Old Weir Bridge / Meeting of the Waters
• Low level walk across the lake side of Torc Mountain with tremendous views
• Queen's Drive and Torc
Friars Glen is at the start of the KERRY WAY - a marked walk following the coastline of the Iveragh Peninsula (Ring of Kerry) taking 5 to 10 days. We can arrange to send your luggage to your next accommodation and provide a packed lunch. We can also provide free car parking while you are on your walking tour.
It is possible to walk for 1 day on part of this renowned trail within the Killarney National Park and return to Friars Glen.
For mountain enthusiasts, Mangerton, Torc and Stoompa Mountains are on our doorstep and provide stunning views of the Killarney Valley. Friars Glen is a 30 minute drive from the McGillycuddy Reeks and Corrán Tuathail - IRELAND'S HIGHEST MOUNTAINS. Again, we can give you walking information or alternatively we can arrange for a guide.Back to top
